A little bit of human kindness made for a great start to the week, despite the current lockdown. Photo / File
We order our groceries from Papamoa Pak n' Save over the internet and find it most satisfactory.
So it was Monday past at 8.50am - 10 minutes early.
While waiting one of the order staff
approached me, asked if I was Mr Kirby, and was I there for my groceries.
Yes and yes, I answered. So she just said stay there and I will go and get your order for you.
Brilliant I thought but when she came back she loaded the produce into the car.
How good was that?
With a Monday smile I drove to Westpac to confront the machine that allowed me to deposit coin and notes.
Now being a technological dinosaur I was mesmerised from the start and was willing to give way to a woman while I tried to overcome my terror and embarrassment.
She refused my offer but said, "I'll help you through."
Angel.
And so the week started well.
I thank Pak n' Save's employee and the 30-something Valerie Adams look-alike, and now face lockdown with a heightened opinion of my fellow humans.
