The National Youth Jazz Competition saw 19 secondary schools from around the country travelling to Tauranga to perform at Baycourt Theatre.
The competition was one of the first events of the National Jazz Festival, which started this week.
The competition was postponed until this morningdue to concerns about students and their families travelling in the cyclonic weather, and some students were unable to attend because of the road closures around the region. Director Liam Ryan said the event provides a place for young emerging musicians to meet, learn from, and work with other performers and leading experts.
There is an exhibition showcasing 40 years of the National Youth Jazz Competition in the foyer at Baycourt until April 18.
