A man from Papamoa Beach who bashed his partner at their home has been jailed for two years one month.
Jason Maney, 31, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault with intent to injure and theft in Tauranga District Court yesterday.
Maney's victim, who was punched several times on the eveningof June 6, suffered a laceration above her nose and severe bruising to her right eye.
Judge Thomas Ingram told Maney his five pages of convictions, which included a number for violence and a similar conviction in 2010, was troubling reading.
He urged him to take advantage of any counselling offered.
