As you may be aware, the Bay of Plenty Times will be changing to a morning compact newspaper early next year.

This is the biggest change in the paper's 140-year history, and it is aimed at making your daily paper even more local, timely and relevant.

We are taking this opportunity to review the paper's content and operations.

We are looking at how we run our newsroom, what type of general local news we gather and publish, as well as reviewing specialist areas such as sport, business and lifestyle.

It is a major exercise and we'd love your help.

We're keen to receive your feedback on what you like, what you would like changed or what new content you'd like to see in your new-look paper.

It's easy to have your say. Simply email us.

As part of our build-up, we're also looking to engage directly with readers and the community.

We're planning a meet-the-editor session on Tuesday, November 13 at 12.30pm at a venue to be confirmed. This will be a great opportunity to ask me questions about the paper and the proposed changes and give me your feedback in person. You can register by emailing us and we'll advise you of the venue. Refreshments will be provided.

I am also happy to speak at any regular meetings in the Bay. If you belong to a group and would like me to talk about the new-look paper just let me know by emailing me direct.

The Bay of Plenty Times is your newspaper and a big part of your community. We look forward to having you play an important part of shaping its future.

I look forward to hearing from you.
