Omanu's Craig Hamilton is showing good signs on the national circuit.

Omanu's Craig Hamilton is showing good signs on the national circuit.

A sparkling 10-under par score of 62 from North Harbour's Richard Lee has proven too much for overnight leader Craig Hamilton of Omanu to hold off at the Kaikoura Hellers and Friends Pro-Am.

The rookie showed good application in backing up his opening round score of 65 with a four-under par score of 68 that was good enough to claim outright second.

It was always going to take something special to stop Lee's charge - his final round included eight birdies and an eagle - good enough to tie his best ever score on the course.

Lee will play in the Rangiora Pro-Am on Tuesday before preparing to head off to Japan for the third stage of the Japan Tour Q School.

Kaikoura Hellers and Friends Pro-Am final scores:
