For nearly five months we have followed the progress of brave police officer Deirdre Lack after she was seriously injured in a head-on collision in December.
Senior Sergeant Lack broke more than 15 bones in the smash and has defied all odds on her road to recovery.
Now, after more than 10
weeks in hospital, she has once again surprised us all by returning to work at the Te Puke Police Station.
Miss Lack told the Bay of Plenty Times she was happy to be back among her team, friends and the community who supported her through her massive ordeal.
Likewise, I am sure the community is pleased to have their esteemed officer back on deck.
Having already ditched her crutches, Miss Lack is aiming to return to fulltime as soon as she can.
We wish her all the best with her goals and for her complete recovery.
I hope you enjoy reading her courageous story.
