A free parking proposal submitted to the Tauranga City Council today would see two hours free parking before people were charged in the CBD.

Mainstreet Tauranga submitted the proposal which will be considered by council next week.

The proposal would come into action for three months from August if council vote in favor next week.

Deputy Mayor Kelvin Clout today said he supported the proposal.
