AFC Fury have been the biggest beneficiaries of what was, at times, a spiteful clash between Old Blues and Tauranga City United's 2nd XI at Links Avenue on Saturday.

The match, which finished in a 2-2 draw, featured a pair of red cards - one of which appeared far worse than the other - as well as a penalty against Old Blues that left substitutes and support staff livid.

Across town at Tauranga Boys' College, AFC Fury were going about dismantling Tauranga Boys' College.

The 6-0 win gifted the Te Puna-based side the competition lead, leaving Tauranga City United one point back in outright second. The draw with their cross town rivals did little for Old Blues, who now sit five points off the competition lead in a three-way tie with Cambridge and Ngongotaha AFC.

Katikati beat Te Awamutu AFC 2-0 to retain top spot in Federation Two, with second-placed Rotorua United losing pace with a 1-1 draw with Cambridge.
