UPDATED 7.06PM: The fire at an Oceanbeach Rd building has been extinguished.
Fire northern communications shift manager Megan Ruru said the fire was founf in the bathroom area on the top floor of the building.
The building was under renovations, she said.
Three fire trucks remained at the scene.
