Fire fighters respond to scrub fire

UPDATED: Fire fighters responded to reports of a scrub fire which turned out to be a controlled vegetation burn on Cambridge Road.

Emergency services responded to reports of the fire around 3pm this afternoon in Tauranga.

A Tauranga fire station shift manager said the controlled burn was on a private property and the owner had the fire under control.

Emergency services were no longer needed and were dismissed.

EARLIER: Emergency services have been called out to a report of a scrub fire in Tauranga this afternoon.

Fire fighters are on their way to the scene.
