A Mount Maunganui man has been named as the person who died after a crash in Matamata.

He was 49-year-old Jonathan Marc Fairfax-Brown, police said in a statement today.

Fairfax-Brown died after a two-car crash on Puketutu Rd at about 12.15pm on February 1.

Shortly after 5pm the same day, police confirmed one person had died.

“Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing,” police said today.
