Drunk driver more than two times over limit

A woman was caught driving drunk overnight on Hewletts Rd, more than two times over the legal limit.

Acting Sergeant Kane Humia said the woman had recorded a blood alcohol level of 1078mcg, when the legal limit was 400mcg.

New laws coming into play on December 1 will also see the legal limit drop to 250mcg.

Mr Humia said the woman's arrest came as a timely reminder.

"It's a timely reminder leading into Christmas with all the after work functions going on for people to make alternative plans."
