All Black legend Richie McCaw may have tied the knot with hockey-star partner Gemma Flynn on Saturday.

Speculation was rife last night that the sporting pair had married at a private ceremony in Wanaka and this morning some of those in the wedding business indicated the nuptials had taken place in the township yesterday.

Most were reluctant to share any tidbits of gossip, but one wedding professional said word on the town was the sporting couple were now married.

However she said the details were all very, "hush-hush".

Another, had spoken to someone involved in the wedding who'd confirmed the celebrations had taken place on Saturday.

The couple became engaged in Wanaka, where McCaw owns a home, in January last year.

One woman on holiday in the resort town, who didn't want to be named, recounted walking past the sporting couple the night before it's believed they tied the knot.

She said the couple walked past her on Friday - on Dunmore Street in Wanaka.

In an Instagram post, two days ago, Gemma Flynn shared an image at Roys Peak, a popular site for a wedding photoshoot overlooking Lake Wanaka.

"This view is always worth every step," she wrote.

One source told Fairfax guests met at a "secret location", before they were taken to the venue in buses.

In the lead-up to the puported nuptials, Flynn appeared on Australian reality show Say Yes To The Dress, where she tried on a number of bridal gowns in a bid to find her dream look for her big day.
