A not-for-profit organisation is launching a heart-warming cause in Tauranga this week.
Called the Curtain Bank, the initiative of Energy Options will see curtains provided to local families to help keep them warmer over winter.
The Curtain Bank Tauranga will be opened on Friday by Mayor Stuart Crosby and Health Minister Tony Ryall.
The Curtain Bank seeks donations of unused curtains or tracks which they will then clean and sew thermal linings on, if needed.
The curtains are then distributed for free to families in need. The Curtain Bank works closely with local community organisations such as Plunket, Salvation Army and the Asthma Society.
Energy Options staff perform free energy, insulation and heating assessments.
The curtain bank will rely on the community supporting it and encourages donations of curtains, tracks, funding - and time to sort, clean and sew the items.
The opening of the Curtain Bank is happening on Friday at Unit 14, 23 Roxanne Place from 3.30pm. The public is welcome to attend.
