Hundreds of people gathered at Tauranga's Waterfront to protest against testing drugs on animals.

Several people took part in the protest with their pets.

The protesters marched to Red Square to hear speeches. Musician TIki Taane was also taking part in the protest.

The protest was part of a nationwide campaign in protest of the Psychoactive Substances Bill aiming to regulate the sale of party pills and synthetic cannabis.

Thousands of people nationwide took part in similar protests in different centres.
