A rare club outing for Black Caps pace bowler Trent Boult added intrigue to the clash between Element IMF Otumoetai Cadets and Tauranga Boys' College on Saturday.

The game played at Tauranga Domain was part of the Cadets' 40th-anniversary celebrations, with many of the club's former players and administrators in attendance.

Cadets were asked to bat first after losing the toss and went on the rampage to reach 332 for the loss of eight wickets. Bay of Plenty batsman Joe Carter blasted an unbeaten 137 off just 106 balls, smacking eleven fours and five sixes in his innings. Teenager Tim Pringle, 15, hit six boundaries in his 55 with Ruben Clinton also posting a half-century. Rhys Mischewski was the best of the Tauranga Boys' bowlers taking three wickets.

Tauranga Boys' made a valiant attempt to chase down the big target before being dismissed for 178. Matt Golding anchored his team's reply with a solid 71. Cadets skipper Jono Boult posted his team's best bowling figures of 3/29, with brother Trent also taking three wickets.

At Rotorua's Smallbone Park, Bayleys Central Indians took first use of their home wicket against Eves Realty Greerton and were bowled out for 132. Ajay Kumar top scored with 36, with Dion McCall doing plenty of damage with the ball taking 4-9. Josh Healey-Ormrod (34no) and new recruit Umesh Ranaraja (26) led the team to a five-wicket win.

GM Painters Lake Taupo CC were playing at home at Owen Delaney Park for the first time this season. They were removed for a modest 121 against New World Te Puke, who chased down the required runs with seven wickets to spare. Lake Taupo captain Roger Urbahn top scored with 37 not out, while Christian MacDonald and Cam Riley grabbed three wickets each. Dan Price (44) and Tai Bridgman-Raison (41) were the main contributors to the Te Puke win.

With two just two rounds remaining, before the top-two shootout to decide the 2017 Baywide Cup, Cadets are top of the standings ahead of Greerton and Te Puke.
