Crash victim: 'She was the rock in our lives'

The family and friends of Lisa Boston, the woman killed in a crash in the Lower Kaimais on Friday, say she was the "rock" in their lives.

The 42-year-old died on Friday morning after she pulled out of Ruahihi Rd on to State Highway 29 in front of a logging truck, which was heading towards Putaruru.

In a written statement to the Bay of Plenty Times, Mrs Boston's family and friends describe her as a fun and selfless woman.

"She was an amazing, loved mum, wife, daughter, sister and friend to all - she was the rock in everyone's lives.

"Lisa will always be remembered for her fun, selfless and carefree personality.

"This is a tragic reminder that, in this world, time can be taken without notice and be so unfair. Look after those you love, and live for every day. Always in our hearts. We will miss you Lisa xx."

Mrs Boston leaves behind her husband and two children.

A funeral service will be held in Tauranga on Wednesday.

Mrs Boston was the only person in her car. The driver of the logging truck was uninjured.

Head of Western Bay of Plenty road policing Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said Mrs Boston died at the scene shortly after the crash, which occurred at 8.16am.

He said police inquiries were continuing and serious crash investigators returned to the scene yesterday.

Mr Campion said police wanted to thank members of the public who had stopped to help.

The owner of the logging truck company, Charles Papuni, told the Bay of Plenty Times last week his driver had seen Mrs Boston looking towards him and shading her eyes just before she pulled out, indicating sun strike was a possible factor.

Residents in Ruahihi Rd have said the intersection was known locally to be dangerous due to the limited visibility on either side of the road and the high speed of traffic driving downhill towards Tauranga.
