UPDATED 9.40am: The driver of a car that smashed into a power pole in Pyes Pa has been taken to Tauranga Hospital.

The driver is not believed to be seriously hurt from the crash, which only involved the one vehicle.

Power authorities are at the scene, and it is expected there will be power cut to homes in the area.

EARLIER: A car has crashed into a power pole in Pyes Pa.

Emergency services are on the way to the scene of the crash near 555 Pyes Pa Rd.
