Crash blocking at Bayfair highway

Traffic travelling along Maunganui Rd was forced into one lane this morning following a two car collision.

The mess from the 6.15am crash, near the Bayfair roundabout, was so widespread that emergency services had to shut down part of the road to clean it up.

Tauranga police Sergeant Chris Summerville said no one was seriously injured in the crash but both cars needed to be towed away.

"Both caused a decent blockage which took some time to clear," Mr Summerville said.

It is understood the road was now clear and not affecting traffic any longer.
