Three Tauranga companies feel badly let down by the Tauranga City Council's refusal to meet claims totalling $43,500 for essential maintenance carried out on the Mount Hot Pools.
The companies did the work during the pool's one-week shutdown last May, but their invoices got caught up in the liquidation of LeisureCo - the company contracted to operate council's network of swimming pools and gyms.
Boshier Engineering, Guild and Spence Electrical and Total Solutions subsequently pursued council for the $43,500 balance owed to them after receiving 30c in the dollar from LeisureCo's liquidator.
In a letter detailing their joint claim, they said council's aquatics company, Tauranga City Aquatics (TCAL), authorised the maintenance work while knowing LeisureCo was running a "very real risk" of defaulting on its contract.
