Colour Dash returns to Bay

Hundreds of runners will chase each other in a rainbow of colour this Sunday, raising money for local charities.

Colour Dash is a fun run and walk and was last in Tauranga in 2014. It has returned to raise funds for local charities Kiwi Can and Project K. In the 2014/15 season, Colour Dash raised $100,000 for Ronald McDonald House, says event manager Larissa Allen.

"We decided to share the love and choose another charity this year because we reached our target for Ronald McDonald. Because we are now raising money for Tauranga charities, we thought we needed to bring the fun run back," she says.

Half of all entry fees go directly back to the two charities that have youth as their focus.
Kiwi Can helps schools address bad behaviour, such as bullying and truancy.

Project K offers two programmes, one of which is a three-week wilderness adventure for Year 10 students. The other is a community challenge and 12 months of mentoring with an adult. Both charities are Graeme Dingle Foundation programmes.

The fun run/walk is for all ages and can either be 3km or 6km, depending on fitness levels.

During the event there are colour stations, where participants are splashed with colour dust while they run.

"It is all part of the fun getting colour dust thrown at them, to enjoy live music and support a good cause," she says.

Participants can attend registration pick up at Waipuna Park on Saturday, April 9, 1pm-4pm, or Sunday, April 10, 9am-11am. Event details and map available from www.colourdash.co.nz.
