Hundreds of collectors were snapping up bargains at the annual Mount Record Fair yesterday.

Dozens of boxes containing more than 13,000 vinyl records were up for grabs.

Avenues vinyl fan Ryan Greenwood, 22, was in his element.

"I didn't come along to buy any specific albums but if you search long enough, there are always one or two hidden gems in the boxes," he said.

Greenwood said he started collecting vinyl records two years ago and has now amassed a collection of about 250 across different musical genres.

Among his best buys at the fair were Supertramp's 1974 album Crime of the Century and Ram by Paul McCartney.

"It's pretty cool when you do find a gem, especially if the artist isn't releasing their music anymore," he said.

Organiser Brian Wafer said the fair had been a "pretty chilled" event for all involved.

"Everyone seems pretty relaxed and clearly having fun searching for some bargains."
