It really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Tauranga.

The exhibition, called Santa's Wonderland, has opened in the city centre.

The exhibition was created by Goddard's Centre and Downtown Tauranga to showcase all things Christmas.

On offer is Santa's float from the Trustpower Christmas Parade, life-sized reindeer, Christmas displays, digital displays and videos games, a Christmas craft making table, along with special appearances from Santa Claus and snow will be all around.

Downtown Tauranga spokeswoman Sally Cooke says the Christmas exhibition is believed to be the largest single display the city centre has seen.

"We wanted to create something magical, so that when shoppers came into the city centre that would get a beautiful experience of all things Christmas.

"We even have some market vendors joining us selling beautiful handmade soaps, bath bombs and candles and delicious hand-made truffles and art. There is truly something for everyone."

Sally says the exhibition is a visual and sensory overload for children and adults alike.

"Come and see myths, legends and Christmas traditions through digital and tactile displays… you can even have a snowball fight while you are there. It's our Downtown Tauranga, Goddard's Centre treat for the city centre and we hope everyone will love it," she says.

Santa will also be there on Saturday's 11.30am to 2pm and daily in the week leading up to Christmas.
