Bay of Plenty Steamers blindside flanker Johan Bardoul has re-signed with Bay of Plenty Rugby for another two years after a successful season with the Chiefs.
Bardoul, 27, stamped his mark in his Investec Super Rugby debut this year with the Chiefs, securing himself a two year contract with thefranchise.
Bardoul has played 20 games for the Bay, and will be returning to action after suffering a knee injury in his final appearance for the Chiefs this year in Rotorua back in May. He is expected to be available by the start of the ITM Cup.
"It was an easy decision to make. The Mount and Bay of Plenty is a great place to live," Bardoul said.
"To get out of Hamilton for a few months of the year will be a great change of scene. With the new coaching team in place, I'm looking forward to spending sometime with Clayton (McMillan) over the next few years. I really enjoy playing for the Bay and it's home to me. "It will be good to get the jersey back on again."
Bay of Plenty Rugby CEO Mike Rogers says it is great to have a quality player like Bardoul return for the Steamers.
"Johan is a crowd favourite and brings with him a great work ethic and passion for the Bay jersey. He also makes a significant contribution to the community off the field which is an important part of being a Bay player.
"Off the back of his successful Chiefs Rugby campaign, he will be a great asset for the Steamers and his experience will be invaluable. "
