The Tauranga Home Show is well known for an exciting range of health and beauty products - and this year's show will be no exception.
Cosmetics, beauty and fitness products and services are featured among the 200 exhibits assembled for the show, some - such as the range on offer from
Tease Organix Ltd - with their own interesting back story.
Tease Organix came into being after salon owner Teena Cooke began to have an adverse reaction to some of the chemicals used in the hair dressing industry, including parabens and various petroleum-based chemicals.
About 10 years ago she sold her salon and made an all-out effort to regain her health and get fit. This culminated in Teena joining the police force, in which she served for five years.
The health crisis also kindled a lively interest in growing her own food, improving her diet and researching herbal beauty products of various kinds.
After Teena left the force, she opened an organic salon in her home, having already educated herself on herbology and the value of organic food. She began making herbal beauty products in her own kitchen and was soon fielding questions from clients about what kind of skin care she used.
With the demand for her natural beauty products clearly identified, Teena set about to meet it.
"My passion is in herbology so it was essential that I find the best botanicals to use in my products," she says.
"What I can't grow myself I try to source organically and ethically. Every product is hand-made by me - something I plan to keep doing."
From initially supplying farmers' markets, Teena now runs product parties and also has four sales consultants. The range includes face and skin care products, eye and lip creams and various balms. There's even a herbal dog shampoo.
