A man who died after crashing his aircraft at Tauranga airport suffered a "cardiac event", a report into his death has revealed.
A coroners report, released today, said Jeffrey Arthur Bryant, 56, died as a result of multiple injuries sustained in a microlight aircraft crash on September 27, 2010.
The report
revealed Mr Bryant was completing a "touch and go'' manoeuvre, where the pilot lands the plane but while taxiing on the runway, power is increased and the plane takes off again.
Mr Bryant had completed this once and the crash happened at the conclusion of the second.
Coroner Tim Scott said after the completed second "touch and go" landing, the aircraft began climbing at a steep angle.
