Car smashes through Gate Pa shop window

A woman smashed her car through the front of the Coin Save store in the Gate Pa shopping centre about 10.30am today, leaving shards of glass hanging above the vehicle.
Firefighters had to carefully winch the car out of the store before the back door was removed and the woman lifted onto a stretcher by paramedics.
She was taken to Tauranga Hospital by ambulance.
Sergeant Lester Polglase believed the 67-year-old may have pulled into a carpark before mounting the kerb and crashing into the shop front.
Mr Polglase said there may have been a medical reason for the accident or the woman may have put her foot on the accelerator instead of the brake.
Police investigations are continuing.
