A car burst into flames outside a Bay kindergarten yesterday.
A woman was dropping her children off at Paengaroa Free Kindergarten when her car caught fire - giving children at the kindy a surprise first-hand lesson in spontaneous car fires.
Maketu volunteer firefighters were called to Old Coach Rd after the car caught fire at lunchtime.
Maketu fire chief Shane Beech said he understood the woman was dropping off two children inside the kindergarten when the car ignited. When she returned to the car, she saw the fire and called 111.
Mr Beech said: "It was pretty much well involved. The car had some quite severe damage."
