Car fire thought to be suspicious

An early morning car fire is being treated as suspicious.

Fire crews were called to a car on fire on Otumoetai Rd about 4.30am. A Fire Brigade spokesman said the blaze could have been much worse if neighbours hadn't spotted it and phoned the Fire Service.

Firefighters were at the scene for about half an hour putting out the blaze.

The spokesman said police were investigating the incident and it was thought to be suspicious.
