Testing conditions faced bowlers on Saturday, with strong blustery winds making line and length a challenge throughout the day.

Bevan Coleman (Gate Pa Underdogs) in A division section 2, had a tussle with Kevin Maxfield (Mount Sandpipers) through to 12-13 on the 13th end. Over the next four ends, Coleman secured two fours and a single to establish a 21-14 break by the 17th and he won 25-19 on the 21st end to give his side its only win of the fixture.

Dennis Duncan (South Snappers) had a tight singles against Neil Wilson (Te Puke Gold). Duncan was never trailing and took the game 25-22 on the 32nd end. One point separates the two front runners in this section, Sandpipers and Snappers, so next week's results hold the key to who progresses to the finals.

In section 1, Hugh Jorgensen (Omanu Chiefs) and Roy Nugter (Mount Surfies) had a close encounter. Jorgensen closed out the game on the 23rd end 25-24 with a single. Matua Blaze holds a 3-point advantage over South Marlins going into the last round.

In Men's B section 1, Mount Sharks had a clean sweep over Omanu Magic to give them 10 points for the fixture and a two point advantage on aggregate over South Orcas. The other sides were evenly matched and only separated by the bonus points. Possibly any of four sides could secure the finals spot.

In section 2, Katikati Muraltoms continued with a clean sweep over Omanu Knights and look a certainty to be a finalist. Omokoroa Orchards and South Morays are the trailing sides but play each other in the last round robin fixture.

In Men's C Division, the withdrawal of a side will lead to a reassessment of all the results to ensure sections are competing on equal terms. The top performers are Matua Sting section 1, Omanu Stags section 2 and Tauranga Rimu section 3.

Women's A Sue Hodges (South Tuis) had a comfortable win over Raewyn Willis (Omanu Roses) 25-17. Robyn Mathews-Hunt (South Kingfishers) dominated Noeline Schmidt (Matua Gold) to win 25-11. Marj Flowerday (Matua Emerald) met Meredith Pottage (Mount Opals) with Pottage recovering over the last six ends to secure the win 25-23 on the 30th end. Tuis hold a slender lead over Gold and they meet in the final round.

In Women's B, Katikati Kittens and Omanu Lillies took full points. Lillies have a significant lead and look to be the winners with a day to go. In Women's C, Omokoroa Ferns and Tauranga Tuis lead their sections by good margins and face each other on finals day.
