Hello and welcome to the first fortnightly edition of the Wardrobe Wise column.

I'm here to give you tips on looking fabulous and feeling great by plan - not by chance!

Today, let's talk about those times you step out feeling not-so-great ... and how to change this for the best.

Have you recently stepped out the door in a rush wearing something too tight - perhaps around the chest, waist or hips?

Running late, you just wish you could turn around and start again ... Well, you're not alone with this one.

Christmas and other festive events, weddings, barbecues, pre-dinner drinks and nibbles all add up and are probably to blame for those few extra kilos that have crept on unnoticed over summer.

If this is you, it's time for a "mini'' wardrobe overhaul.

Having a wardrobe plan, a proper plan, can take a few hours.

Here, I can help you enjoy what's left of summer, so you feel comfortable in your clothes - and confident that you look great.

Spending time organising your wardrobe can make a huge difference to how you feel.

It will also save you a great deal of time, money and worry. First step is to group all your summer clothing into the centre of the rack.

Take the clothing and split into piles - "too tight'', "too big'' and "haven't worn in two summers''.

Then try everything on. As you try on various dresses, skirts and tops, you'll be able to eliminate the clothes that don't fit well and allocate them to a separate bag.

With what is left, make three new piles of "casual'', "work'' and "dressy''.

Now work with each category individually by laying the garments on the bed to make up some new mixes to wear.

You might be surprised by what you do actually have to wear.

Hang your outfits in the wardrobe, ready to wear to get you through the rest of summer.

If you really can't bear to part with some garments, have them adjusted by a dressmaker.

Take the time to give this a go and you'll be less stressed next time you are rushing out the door.

You will also feel more positive and have one less thing to worry about.

Look good and step out confidently.
