Baywave bore up and running again for long weekend

Baywave's bore issue has been fixed and heated pools should return to their usual temperatures before the long weekend.

Bay Venues project manager Justine Brennan today said in a statement the reheating process began last night. It would take about 48 hours for the pools to reach ideal temperatures.

Brennan said the lap pool's temperature had dropped from its usual 27C to 20C.

The temperature is being monitored and, as of 9am this morning, the temperature reading was 22.5C, Brennan said.

"We are really pleased with the way the pools are re-heating. At this rate, we will have the toddlers pool and spa pool open this afternoon and expect to be back to normal temperatures in all pools by Friday afternoon,'' Brennan said in the statement.

The bore problem was identified on May 13.

The bore system used to heat the pools has since been fixed in a process involving re-casing the reinjection bore and partially re-casing the production bore.

To avoid damage, the bore system was shut immediately, causing water temperatures to drop steadily.

The lap pool and wave pool have remained open.

There is half-price general entry and free hydrosliding while Baywave is unable to offer its usual level of service. This offer will continue until closing time tomorrow.

The usual Friday Fun Night will resume tomorrow with a half-price general entry and free hydroslide, and Baywave's BaySwim learn to swim classes - which have been relocated off-site for the past few weeks - will be held on site as normal next week. These will resume on Tuesday.
