From Easter weekend the Bayfair Night Market will be held on Saturday night instead of Sunday.
Director of the Tauranga market Cadence Kaumoana said the change would make it more convenient for families and stall holders who work Monday to Friday.
The market would continue through winter and would continueto be held in the mall's undercover carpark so it would not be affected by wet weather, she said. "It's just something fun and exciting to do on a Saturday night."
The final Sunday market would be held this weekend and the first Saturday market on Easter weekend. "We've been going almost five months. It's been a huge success. We just have so many people who love it. People come from out of town for it," Ms Kaumoana said.
Between 5000 and 8000 people came through the market on an average Sunday night and she hoped the change to Saturday would attract even larger crowds.
The event is connected to the Auckland and Hamilton night markets but Tauranga had its own unique flavour, Ms Kaumoana said.
"We kind of cater to a different range of food and goods. In Auckland there's more Asian-type gourmet delicacies. In Tauranga we have a range of European food and from Central America which gives it a different vibe to Auckland."
