A 20-year-old Bay of Plenty man who accidentally stabbed his upper leg while skinning a pig remains in a stable condition at Tauranga Hospital.
The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was called to Te Kaha Medical Centre at 1pm yesterday after a man sustained a potentially life-threatening injury to one of
the major vessels in his thigh.
A helicopter spokesman said the man had accidentally stabbed his leg while skinning a pig.
St John paramedics and a local doctor stabilised the man before he was flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.
The helicopter was called due to the nature of the injury and distance to the required hospital.
