Whangamata bakers who promised to send their day's takings to an earthquake-stricken bakery in Kaikoura have already raised their normal Friday trading total.
Dion and Rochelle Mackwood of Oliver's Bakery were so ''bummed out about what happened down there'' they decided to donate their day's takings today to the Kaikoura
Bakery.
By 10am today, the bakery's sales had already surpassed its normal Friday total.
Mr Mackwood has been up since 2.30am baking goods for today.
He said his wife put their plans on their Facebook page earlier this week and since then ''it's just exploded''.
