Football:
The Mount Maunganui College 1st XI boys showed an impressive improvement this week in their game against the 2nd XI Tauranga Boys' College team. Colby Brennan was again able lead the Mount side to success scoring a goal for the third time in the past three games. However, Tauranga Boys' hit back just before half-time and were the overall victors, 3-1. Man of the match was earned by talented displays from Jordan York in central midfield and Cairo Daisley in defence.
Rugby:
There were plenty of skills on display when Mount Maunganui College's 1st XV boys played against Bethlehem College. The Mount side won with an impressive score and every player showcased their talent during the game. Reuben Kelly, George Robins and Shae Tutaki all played outstandingly.
The school's U14 and U15 boys teams also had impressive wins during the week.
School Cross Country:
Mount Maunganui College held their school-wide cross country last Wednesday, with all year levels taking part and many representing their house in their house colours.
The school's Year 9 and intermediate students run 3km, with the course running along Ōmanu Beach.
The school's senior students run 5.5km, taking them to Tay Street before making their way down the beach toward Ōmanu Surf Club and back to the school.
This year the school also introduced a walking race so students who wished to participate without running could also get involved.
In the Year 9 girls' race, Olivia Lassey won the 3km run, Jazmin Mitchell placed second and Emma Merson came in third. In the Year 9 boys race Ethan Chamberlain placed
first, Luke Devine in second and Ashton Pellow third.
The top spot in the intermediate girls' race was taken by Year 11 student Lucia Cook. Sarah Burns, another Year 11 girl, finished second, and Year 10 student Poppy Wilson came third.
Year 11 Salem Broughton won the Intermediate boys division, with Year 11 Sonny Eades behind him and Jahnu Rosemeyer in third.
