Christmas is a true passion for Te Puke mother-of-nine Angela Thomson.
Even the house she and her husband recently purchased in Dunlop Rd had to have a shed suitable for her to create a winter wonderland Christmas Grotto.
The grotto, named Aberdeen House (because her husband is Scottish) is filled with animated toys, Christmas trains, snowmen and winter fairground and sledding scenes.
There is even a craft table for kids to create their own Christmas goodies.
This is the 10th year Mrs Thomson and her husband have decorated their home, the first nine years were in Auckland.
While she is selling a small selection of decorations collected from around the world, Mrs Thomson hopes to create a permanent shop on the property, open all year round, selling Christmas decorations and merchandise for other holidays, like Valentine Day and Halloween.
"My big dream, that I've always had, is to have a Christmas shed that I can keep open all year," she said.
On Christmas Day her new home will be filled with eight of her nine children, who range in age from 29 to 11, and their partners.
"It's busy, it's noisy, it's fun," she said.
The day is spent enjoying a barbecue lunch, including a spit roast and tasty desserts.
"We'll just sit outside and enjoy the day," Ms Thomson said.
She admits she definitely goes over the top with presents, too.
Each of her children can expect to receive 10 each, including one large gift, which she has collected throughout the year. Each of them also still gets a Christmas stocking.
"I've carried that tradition on," she said.
* The house at 58 Dunlop Street in Te Puke is part of the Bay of Plenty Times Light Trail. The Christmas Grotto is also open to visitors during the day, including school and kindergarten groups who are welcome to picnic on the lawn.
