Hundreds of packets of Girl Guide biscuits have been added to the Tauranga Foodbank larder.

Legacy Trust this week donated $2000 worth of Girl Guide biscuits to the foodbank - almost 500 packets.

Legacy funeral director Annie Innes imagined they would be a popular addition to food parcels.

Donating them enabled Girl Guides to continue their community service and at the same time helped those in need, she said.

Girl Guiding organisation member Janet Reekie said Legacy Trust was showing wonderful support that benefited many.

"Legacy, Girl Guides and the Tauranga Foodbank are all working together to help each other and our community. It's such a lovely synergy. It's the real heart of what all three organisations stand for."

Last year Legacy Trust donated 465 packets of original and chocolate biscuits.
