Excited Arataki youngster Mason Heke and older brother Jayden were among the 10,000 people who lined Dickson Rd for the inaugural Pak'nSave Papamoa Santa Parade.
Almost every parking space and vantage point was taken so people had the best view to watch the 55 festive floats as they trekked down Dickson Rd toward Palm Beach Plaza, where the judging for the float competition took place.
The parade was led by the City of Tauranga Pipe Band and police personnel, some walking police dogs and others carrying their children.
A spoof criminal carrying his ball-and-chain added a bit of excitement after he made a short mad dash into the crowd but was recaptured promptly.
Cheerleaders, drummers, dancers, scouts and guides, playcentres and cultural groups as well as businesses and non-profit groups were among those spreading the festive cheer.
