An image of a 12-pounder coehorn mortar, one of six fired upon Gate Pa by the British on April 29 1864, is among the items on display at an exhibition which opened in Tauranga last night.
Images of Gate Pa is made up of a series of drawings, paintings and photographs depicting the people, places and events surrounding the Battle of Gate Pa and Te Ranga.
The exhibition was opened by kaumatua Peri Kohu and Buddy Mikaere (pictured).
The exhibition will run at St Georges Church in Gate Pa until May 2.
