At least 30 Waihī households are expected to be without power tonight after a truck crashed into three poles this morning.
The crash on Kenny Rd happened about 6.30am, causing "considerable damage" and leaving 130 properties in Waihī without power. Meanwhile, hundreds were also affected by an outagein Pāpāmoa today.
Powerco network operations manager Phil Marsh said power supply was cut in the commercial and industrial area of town.
Contractors worked through the rain to repair Powerco's damaged electricity network in Waihī today.
Marsh originally stated it was hoped 100 of the 130 customers affected in the commercial and industrial area of the town would have power back on by 6.30pm.
"Despite the heavy rain, linesmen have been able to replace the poles and work is continuing on replacing damaged lines and other assets." he said.
A team drafted from Matamata made up the 16 staff working on the repair work.
"The remaining 30 customers should have supply restored by the morning," Marsh said.
