Tauranga audiences get to experience the most hilarious and enduring works of theatrical duo Gilbert and Sullivan when Operatunity brings The Many Faces of Gilbert and Sullivan to the city.
The concert features excerpts from different operettas including songs from The Mikado, Pirates of Penzance and The Gondoliers.
The topsy-turvy
world of Gilbert and Sullivan will be performed by five brave singers, soprano Kerry Scurr, Mary Newman-Pound, Robert Enari, Alex Milligan and John Cameron who take on the challenge of the tongue-twisting quirky humour, clever words, and lovely melodies amid quick costume changes.
Gilbert and Sullivan jointly created 14 comic operas between 1871 and 1896, of which H.M.S Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado are among the best known.
Their operas have enjoyed enduring international success and their innovations influenced the development of today's musical theatre.
