Sheree Camilleri and Maree Hudson co-host the Her Business network in Tauranga, running events that appeal to local women in business or those looking to get into business.

Sheree on Maree

I was a bit nervous when I put my hand up for the Her Business co-hosting role. Volunteering is
a bit like a box of chocolates, you never know what you'll get, as Forrest Gump would say. So it was a relief when I got the call saying that Maree was taking on the challenge, too.

We've developed a relationship that is easy and relaxed. The best words I would choose to describe Maree would be very genuine: what you see is what you get - no hidden agendas, quietly spoken, committed and so dependable to get the task done. And she has a great creative side.

Though new to business, I've been impressed, even when curve balls look set to knock the chosen path out of kilter.

I laugh when Maree says she's impressed that I manage four children and a business without dropping any balls.

She's being so polite not mentioning the house with the most unkempt gardens (not hard to do when neighbours are seen hand-picking weeds from their lawns even in the pouring rain). It would hardly get selected for a House & Garden photo shoot, but you can't do everything.

Maree on Sheree

I first met Sheree at the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce. She runs her own business, Action Stations, an outdoor team development and coaching business. I don't know how she does it with four kids, too. She constantly amazes me.

We've realised, since we've met, that we both have many similarities. We are both educators. (I am a web consultant and produce promotional videos for real estate and businesses.) Both our grandparents lived in Tauranga; we both spent childhood holidays at the beach with our families. Setting a plan 20 years ago to escape Auckland, Sheree is living her passion - working with other local businesses and involved in the local environment. She genuinely cares about helping others to succeed. Sheree is dynamic, positive, enthusiastic, encouraging. I admire her ability to do what she does, and always with a smile on her face and in her voice.
