As Kate Middleton said "I do" to her prince, dozens of Western Bay ladies were also feeling like princesses, even if only for a day.
Wedding dresses, princess gowns and royal regalia flew off the shelves at costume hire shops across the Western Bay as royal enthusiasts celebrated last night.
Belinda Robins,
owner of Kapow Costume Hire in Mount Maunganui, said she had been rushed off her feet for two weeks.
"I've been really busy actually, lots of people are having parties in Tauranga.
"It's quite amazing, I really didn't think it would generate this much attention."
Some were getting inventive with the royal theme.
"But instead of doing the traditional, people are going outside the box and getting costumes like Shrek and Princess Fiona, but it's anything royal-themed, really."
A number of Western Bay businesses allowed their staff to dress up for the wedding yesterday.
