Year 1 students at Bay of Plenty Polytechnic have their best work on show in the city. Students have been given the creative freedom to develop and design an editorial womenswear ensemble inspired by post-apocalyptic fiction.
There were many challenges within the assessment, students researched and created a character in
response to a world after a catastrophic disaster, exploring concepts such as zombie apocalypse, cybernetic revolt or supernatural phenomena.
Students were to utilise a grey colour palette to communicate the mood of the brief they had been given. The final reinterpreted ensembles, unique to each individual designer, cross the boundaries between contemporary fashion, costume, avant garde and wearable art.
