Weekends are for indulging and chillaxing, but schlepping around in jim-jams or trackies doesn't make you feel gorgeous.

It is a dilemma that struck Repertoire's designer, Lee Kleiman, when she was walking the dogs at the Mount in her gym clothes. "I wanted a coffee but felt a little underdressed for the local beach cafe," Lee says.

"I found myself wishing that I had something in the wardrobe that was comfortable for the weekend but still elegant.

"At the weekends I am often at the children's sports or watching them surf - but I don't want to run around in the same branded surf wear as my teenage daughter.

"Talking to other women, I realised they felt the same way about weekend wear."

Lee and fellow director Meghan Bowker put their heads together, and the result was Repertoire's Lounge collection which launched last week.

The collection is understated chic weekend wear in neutral colours, and includes cardigans, jackets, T-shirts, shirts, ponchos, leggings and pants, as well as "lounging accessories".

The idea behind the collection is clothes that are comfortable, making you feel gorgeous and confident. Repertoire Lounge clothing can accommodate different weekend environments, whether you are at home alone or entertaining, and it still looks finished enough to pop out during the day for a walk, shopping, coffee or kids' sports.

The design team considered their own weekend dressing dilemmas when creating the collection.

"I normally wear knits at the weekend and layer in neutral colours. Comfort is a must, as well as covering my bottom and tummy," says Lee.

Meghan said: "At the weekend I often wear jeans out, which isn't ideal as they can be stiff and often uncomfortable.

"When I am chillaxing at home I am in trackies, hoodies and slippers.

"But often I find this lowers my energy levels and doesn't put me in a good head space. I still think you should look and feel gorgeous in your weekend wear."

The Lounge collection feels super comfortable, yet looks stylish and a little edgy at the same time.

The pieces also interchangeable, making for easy packing for weekends away.

The collection in store now is designed to be worn right through to December, and Repertoire will design a new Lounge range for each season with splashes of colour in high summer.

Tips for easy weekend wear

  • Keep your look semi-fitted, loose and soft.

  • Try and avoid very fitted and structured clothing as this can often be uncomfortable and remind you of your work wear.

  • It is essential to still keep your shape so soft layering is important.

  • Long loose layers close to the body give a comfortable, yet elegant look which is great for covering figure challenges as well.

  • Fabrics are  important; knits and fabrics with high stretch qualities ensure comfort and style.

  • Your weekend clothes should feel gorgeous, be versatile, practical and always comfortable.

  • The idea is easy wash, easy care, and easy wear.

  • Accessories are still important but should be minimal and comfortable. Head bands, glovelets, scarves, long and loose necklaces and bangles are the accessories for your weekend wardrobe.
