It's that time of year when just about every surface in the garden takes on the texture of glass. But instead of pussyfooting around, make your surfaces safer.
Make sure they are clean and free of mould and mildew - a waterblaster will make short work of the task. Hire or
borrow one and give all your slippery surfaces a good clean.
Find an appropriate outdoor cleaning chemical product to restore the appearance of your surface and remove mould and mildew. Apply according to the instructions and rinse thoroughly when finished. Remember to rinse off any neighbouring foliage to clear overspray.
If you have concrete pavers, hose down and sweep regularly to avoid build-up of organic matter that will become slippery underfoot.
When using a waterblaster, make sure the pressure does not scour the surface of your pavers or scour out the grouting between tiles.
When planning new areas of timber decking, steps or boardwalks, note that grooved timber is more slip resistant than smooth.
