Being a rock star is a thing of dreams but for five Te Puke locals, their dreams are about to take centre stage.
Five-piece rock band Enercia have signed an international record deal with Do It Records and are one step closer to performing in front of tens of thousandsof people at international gigs.
Band manager Brendon Layne confirmed to the Bay of Plenty Times that the band had signed its first record deal.
Mr Layne would not disclose how much the contract was worth but said it had the potential to take the band overseas to international concerts.
"What this deal means is their songs will be sold and distributed to over a hundred countries around the world, through a lot of different social websites and for use in television and films across the States and Europe," Mr Layne said. "It's an exciting time and it really is a dream."
Enercia spent the past year touring the North Island, performing alongside New Zealand's Dane Rumble, These Four Walls, Ivy Lies, and UK-based band I Am Giant. The band released their second EP at the end of last month.
Guitarist Jade Whiteman, said the preparation had been done and now it was time for the band to go to work.
"I'm totally looking forward to it and I'm counting down for it all to happen."
Lead vocalist Luke Tyrrell was stunned when he was told the news and said it was extremely unexpected.
"I thought we would get picked up first by a national label not an international one but it's sunk in now and I'm prepared for what the future holds," Mr Tyrrell said.
"We're not sure where to from here, we've got to go where this will take us but I'm definitely ready and we've been working towards this for the last couple of years to get to this point."
"I must pay credit to the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic where I'm currently completing a diploma in music. It's really helped me understand more of the music."
Other band members are Vaughan Tindall on bass, Matt Harvey on guitar and Ramon Crichton on drums.
