For an artist known for her smooth and soulful sounds, Ladi6 sure knows how to pack a punch in a high-energy deliverance.
But it was the brothers from Whakatane who were the stars of last night's show at Brewers Field.
There is little doubt Ladi6 can sing - her soulfulvoice is one of the singer's biggest drawcards - but the electronica of last night's performance overshadowed her vocals slightly.
That didn't hamper any of the singer's style though. Ladi6 got the crowd singing and grooving along as she belted out on the tambourine and drum symbols in a high energy set.
While a good chunk of the crowd at Brewers were getting into it by the end of Ladi6's act, there was little doubt many had come to see the boys from Whakatane - Kora.
Kora already had the 1000-odd crowd chanting their name to deafening levels simply by walking on stage. They went on to deliver a couple of tracks from their upcoming, yet-to-be-named album before cutting into old favourites Skankensteine and Crazy Things. They received thunderous applause.
