Locals who like a good competitive quiz are in luck, because the Friends of the Gallery is holding a Quiz Night on Friday, March 18 as a fundraiser for Tauranga Art Gallery.

"The Friends are always looking for new ways to support the gallery and this night will prove to be a great fundraiser for the gallery's special projects," says Sara Liang, the group's president.

The Friends of the Gallery are a growing group of art enthusiasts who are committed to supporting Tauranga Art Gallery socially and financially. They are actively involved in the region's arts community.

Those who join the Friends will receive discounts on purchases at the gallery, get invitations to events such as previews, floor talks, presentations and performances.

The Friends organise an Art in the Afternoon event with guest speakers every first Wednesday of the month and they regularly go on studio visits, out of town trips and tours and view private collections together.

Carly Shorter is generously giving her time to MC the evening for the quiz night.

"With more than 14 years' experience in radio broadcasting and media throughout New Zealand and Australia, she's a great communicator and will certainly be the right woman for the job on the night," Sara says.

There will be spot prizes throughout the evening and complimentary platters will be placed on each table. There will be a cash bar, too.
